SolaRIS Rebate Application Guide 2026: Get RM4,000 Off Your Solar

What is the SolaRIS Rebate?

SolaRIS (Solar Rakyat Incentive Scheme) is a government initiative by SEDA Malaysia to make solar energy more accessible for residential customers. The program offers a rebate of up to RM4,000 for qualifying solar installations.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the SolaRIS rebate, you need:

  • Malaysian citizen (IC holder)
  • Residential property owner (landed or strata)
  • TNB account in your name
  • System size between 3kW to 72kW
  • Installation by a **SEDA-registered installer**
  • System connected to the **NEM (Net Energy Metering)** program
  • Rebate Amount

The rebate amount depends on your system size:

  • Systems up to 6kW: Up to **RM4,000**
  • The rebate covers both equipment and installation costs
  • How to Apply: Step by Step

    Step 1: Free Consultation

Contact SolarKita for a site assessment. We evaluate your roof, energy usage, and recommend the optimal system size.

Step 2: System Design & Quotation

We provide a detailed proposal with system specifications, expected savings, and total cost including the SolaRIS rebate deduction.

    Step 3: SolaRIS Application

SolarKita submits your SolaRIS application online through the SEDA portal. Required documents:

  • Copy of IC (front and back)
  • Copy of TNB electricity bill
  • Property ownership proof (grant/title)
  • Quotation from registered installer
  • Step 4: Approval & Installation

Once approved (typically 2-4 weeks), we schedule your installation. The work is completed in 1-3 days for residential systems.

    Step 5: Inspection & Commissioning

SEDA conducts an inspection to verify the installation meets standards. After approval, your system is connected to the NEM grid.

    Step 6: Rebate Disbursement

The rebate is disbursed directly to you or deducted from your installation cost, depending on the arrangement with your installer.

    Tips to Maximize Your Rebate

  • 1Apply early — rebate quotas are limited per year
  • 2Use a registered installer — mandatory for eligibility
  • 3Combine with NEM — maximize savings by selling excess energy
